  • Romaine Abrams

    Registered Midwife

    (she/her)

    Romaine was born and raised in Guyana where she first became a midwife and practiced for 6 years. After immigrating to Canada, she enrolled in the Midwifery pre-registration program at what is now Toronto Metropolitan University, completing her studies in 2011. She then worked as a midwife in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan until 2020 when she joined the Community Midwives of Kingston.

    A little-known fact about Romaine is that her favourite season is fall. In her free time Romaine loves to travel.

  • Rim Artin

    Registered Midwife

    (she/her)

    Rim is originally from Syria. She went to Aleppo university and graduated as an obstetrician/gynecologist in 2004. She worked as an OBGYN until she moved to Canada in 2015. She loved helping her clients through their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journeys and decided that midwifery in Canada was the right fit for her. She graduated the International Pre-registration program in 2018 and has been working at the Community Midwives of Kingston ever since.

    A little-known fact about Rim is that her favourite colour is blue. In her free time Rim loves cooking and spending time with her family.

  • Alyssa Byers-Heinlein

    Registered Midwife

    Alyssa is originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick. She did her first degree at Dalhousie University in molecular genetics before joining the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University graduating in 2014. She has been at Community Midwives of Kingston ever since.

    A little-known fact about Alyssa is that she thinks the taco is the perfect food. In her spare time, you can catch Alyssa organizing cupboards and plotting her next big adventure.

  • Sarah Chisholm

    Registered Midwife

    Sarah was born and raised in Toronto. Before studying midwifery, she studied International Development and Spanish at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and then went on to study holistic nutrition. She went on to graduate from the Midwifery Education Program at Toronto Metropolitan University in 2016.

    A little-known fact about Sarah is that she loves watching reality competition shows. When Sarah is not working you can find her puttering in nature.

  • Mico Devos

    Registered Midwife

    Mico grew up in Stratford, Ontario. She started her post-secondary education at Queen’s University in biology and health. During her time at Queen’s she realized she wanted to become a midwife and entered the Midwifery Education Programme at McMaster University completing her studies in 2006.

    A little-known fact about Mico is that she and her siblings live in 4 different countries. In her free time, she loves camping, cross-country skiing and backyard hens.

  • Iryna Didyk

    Registered Midwife

    Iryna's journey in healthcare began in Ukraine, where she graduated from Medical School at Ternopil State National Medical University and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Upon immigrating to Canada, she transitioned into Midwifery, graduating with a Bachelor of Health Sciences from McMaster University in 2009.

    A little-known fact about Iryna is that she is proficient in English, Ukrainian and Russian. Outside of work, she treasures quality time with her family and dog Lola.

  • Alison Gorringe

    Registered Midwife

    Alison hails from Wales in the U.K. Alison started her career as a registered nurse before pursing her career as a midwife in 2003. After moving to Canada in 2011 she completed the International Midwifery Pre-Registration program at what is now Toronto Metropolitan University. Before moving to Kingston, Alison worked in as a midwife in Barrie.

    A little-known fact about Alison is that her favourite word in Welsh is “cariad” which means love . In her free time, she loves to swim, soak in the hot tub, and hang out with her grandson.

  • Alysha Graham

    Registered Midwife

    Alysha grew up in Guelph, Ontario. She studied Women and Gender Studies at Toronto University before deciding to pursue a career in midwifery. Alysha then moved to Sudbury to attend the Midwifery Education Program at Laurentian University.

    A little-known fact about Alysha is that her favourite chocolate bar is the Mars bar. When not catching babies, you can find Alysha on a road trip or watching reality television.

  • Alexa Hernandez

    Registered Midwife

    Alexa was born in Mexico and grew up in Ottawa. Prior to becoming a midwife, she received a BA at Carleton University in Linguistics and then worked in the hospitality industry. She then entered the Midwifery Education Program at Laurentian University and completed it at Toronto Metropolitan University.

    A little-known fact about Alexa is that she has been fostering dogs and cats for the past 5 years. When Alexa is not working she likes rock climbing, white water sports and road trips.

  • Susan Hubbard

    Registered Midwife

    Susan grew up just outside of Elora, Ontario. Susan received a BA at Kings College in Halifax, Nova Scotia before entering the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University. She will graduate from the masters program in public health from Lakehead University in 2024.

    A little-known fact about Susan is that she spent several years living in Portugal raising her three children when they were younger. She still loves to travel, as well as biking and kayaking when she has time.

  • Diane Jaworiwsky

    Diane is originally from Windsor Ontario. She started her professional life as a massage therapist and doula. She then went to the MEP at Mcmaster Univeristy graudating in 2014. She then worked in Windsor as a midwife until the end of 2022, where she left to join CMK

    A little-known fact about Diane is that she spends every second she can with her dogs. In her free time she likes exploring the beautiful Kingston Region.

  • Caitlin McAllister

    Hello! My name is Caitlin McAllister and I am thrilled to be joining the Community Midwives of Kingston this fall. I recently graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor’s of Health Sciences in Midwifery and spent time working in clinical placements in Chatham, Hamilton, Brantford, and Belleville. Prior to beginning my journey with midwifery, I studied Medical and Biological Physics at McMaster but found my interests aligned more with clinical work and spending time directly with clients. I love the continuity of care midwives provide and find it really special when people welcome us into their growing families.

    Outside of midwifery, I love reading, knitting, writing, and playing with my hedgehog, Sebastian. I am really looking forward to starting work with the Kingston team and getting to know this amazing community!

    Jessica was born in the Rideau Lakes area and grew up around Brockville. She graduated from the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University in 2016 and spent almost seven years practicing in London, Ontario. She has also worked in Windsor, Brockville, and Northern Quebec.

    A little-known fact about Jessica is that she loves house design and would love to flip a house with her dad. In her free time, you can find her with family and friends, on the water, or travelling the world.

  • Alice Ryan

    Alice is originally from Ottawa. The first part of her post-secondary education was at Capilano University in Vancouver after which she transferred to Carleton University where she graduated with a degree in political science with a focus on international development. These studies led her to be deeply interested in reproductive justice. From this passion she decided to become a midwife completing Midwifery Education Program from Laurentian University.

    A little-known fact about Alice is that she used to be a snowboard instructor. In her very limited free time Alice likes to sleep.

  • Cassandra Santoni

    Cassandra is a Kingston local. She left to study Life Sciences at McMaster University before eventually discovering the Midwifery Education Program. She is thrilled that she got to return to her hometown and work at Community Midwives of Kingston.

    A little-known fact about Cassandra is that she loves going to her local library and always has a book on the go. In her free-time, she likes traveling and doing all sorts of exercise and outdoor activities.

  • Kelli Siegwart

    Registered Midwife

    Kelli was born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Before becoming a midwife, she graduated with a BA in Anthropology at Lakehead University in 1999. During her studies she became fascinated with birth traditions and feeding practices around the world. That passion led her to volunteer at the local midwifery practice from 1996 to 1999 and complete her Doula certification in 2000. Kelli fulfilled her dream of becoming a midwife when she graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science in Midwifery from Laurentian University in 2005.

    A little-known fact about Kelli that she loves winter and has been known to travel further north in search of snow. In her spare time Kelli loves being with her family, camping in great the outdoors, and tending her garden.

  • Joy Emigh

    Joy was born and raised here in Kingston. She went to Saint Lawrence for medical and legal office administration and graduated in 2013. Before coming to CMK she did office administration at Collins Bay Pen and various offices around town.

    A little-known fact Joy is that she’s obsessed with all things pottery. In her free time Joy loves baking up a storm, playing with her kitties and listening to prog metal.

  • Chantal Kervin

    Practice Administrator

    Chantal is originally from a small Acadian community near Moncton, New Brunswick. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Université de Moncton, and has also received her CHRP designation.

    Chantal has been our Practice Administrator since 2004. A little-known fact is that Chantal is completely bilingual in French and English. In her free time, she likes to spend time with her family, try out new recipes and pull out the guitar to play a few tunes!

  • Barbara Sutton

    Barbara is originally from the GTA. She spent 20 years as an elementary school admin assistant in York Region District School Board before coming to Kington in 2023.

    A little-know fact about Barbara is that she loves all things hockey - watching, playing, memorabilia and roots for the Toronto Maple Leafs. In her free time she loves spending time with her family, baking, reading and biking.

    Melanie is originally from Almere in the Netherlands. She came to Canada in 2013. She completed an Office Administration - Legal/Health Services degree from Saint Lawrence college and has been working at the Community Midwives of Kingston since 2018.

    A little-known fact about Melanie is that one of her favorite outdoor activities is metal detecting. In her free time she likes to spend time with her family, photography, and playing video games.

  • Laura Walsh

    Laura was born and raised right here in Kingston. Laura first went to St. Lawrence College for Medical Laboratory Technician. While working as a Lab Tech at Lifelabs she decided to go to Loyalist College for Medical Office Administration, graduating in 2008.

    A little-known fact about Laura is that she loves boybands and sees them in concert whenever they are in this part of the world. In her free time, she likes reading, crocheting, and spoiling her dog Milo.
